Omnia Pro Photo Set

After converting the B7610 to English this morning, the first thing I did was to set up a photo shoot. You’ll find 68 photos in my gallery but I’ve included some with notes, below.  Can you spot anything you weren’t expecting?

Omnia Pro B7610 (65)

One of my favorite pics. The AMOLED screen is so sharp and rich. It pops! The keyboard has a backlight too.

Outdoor photo. Note how the screen is not looking so good now. This was taken on an overcast day. In sunlight, it’s going to disappear! (Also note that I haven’t even bothered to put a SIM in yet. That’s how important voice is to me. I’ll be dropping an Alice flat-rate Internet SIM into it today. 15 per month HSPA rates. Woosh!

Here you can see how the pearlescent finish changes in different light. Not sure if I really like it yet!

Omnia Pro B7610 (19)

First impressions of keyboard: Fantastic mechanics but I wish the keys were slightly separated. Way way better than a Nokia N810 and from what I remember of my times with the N97, better than that too. Would have to side-by-side it with a Touch Pro2 to see which one wins.

Omnia Pro B7610 (33)

The contents includes a USB cable (charges from USB) and a nice set of ear buds, an English and Dutch manual, information on WM6.5 upgrade (you have to register) and the charger.

You’ll find the rest of the photos in my gallery over at UMPCPortal.

wtf theres no tv cable ??????????

Not included. The worst thing is that my other TV-out cables don’t seem to play well with the Omnia. I have some more cables to test though.

About the sunlight issue, can you try turning on the backlight to full power (not to be confused with the brightness setting) and tell us how it does then?

      Any news?

I tested it. It’s just about acceptable. I’ve got UMPCs and MIDs that are much worse. Direct sunlight is a no-no due to glossy screen but angle the screen to reflect something dark and it’s usable. Certainly not comfortable though. You’ll only get that with a transflective screen.

All the decent phones coming out now seem to suck when it comes to outdoor viewabilty. So can i cross this one off the list along with the TP2 and N97? Looks like I’ll be sticking with my E90 until I’m old and grey.

Also, is the Opera Mini browser (released in beta today) working well with Omnia Pro?

    • #10 by Swim on September 16th, 2009

      I mean Opera Mini 5

      • #11 by chippy on September 18th, 2009

Seems to work well for browsing.
        Fullscreen not working though.
Will do more testing of course (especially with web apps) but so far, so good. A great app for browsing.

Not checked yet. Spent a few hours trying to fix a wifi problem this afternoon. My Linyskys needed a f/w upgrade to make it word with the omnia pro!
