The Omnia Pro B7610 has VGA (640×480) video cam and a nice built-in video editor where you can sequence together clips and images with text, fades and wipe. Putting together the clip below was relatively easy, even as a first-time user. Trying to upload that to YouTube however was a royal pain in the arse. The ‘communities’ feature on the phone which links some of the applications to online services is missing any support for video. Trying to upload through Opera 9.5 was a frustrating and slow experience that I eventually aborted in favor of using a real computer.
The quality of the resulting post-processed video is very poor. Highly compressed, pixelation and tearing with a poor frame rate. The built-in editor is not something you want to use for ‘Pro’ use. Note that I checked all settings and as far as I could see, everything was set to best quality.
YouTube version below. Make sure you watch this in HQ
The original video (pre-editing) is a lot better. Again, make sure you watch in HQ.

It sound like you not very impressed with the device.
Does this mean you won’t be using the Omnia as your on the spot blogging tool ( similar to what Jen from Pocketables.com did with the Xperia ) when you head off the the U.S. next week.

I’m happy with photos if 1) The lens is kept clean. 2) There’s enough light. Photo blogging should be very easy as it’s easy to post to flickr and then to distribute to a blog.
Video blogging on this is not up to the standard I was looking for. I’ll continue to use my Canon S2IS. VGA and audio capture on that is very good quality.

It should also be noted that the microphone was very good, I could hear your foot steps as you moved through the grass.

Good point. The mic is actually quite good.

Good video resolution I can say, especially for a WM devide! Far better than a video sample that I saw yesterday on youtube and was unacceptable! And the microphone is great, something not used for Sammy devices!

is there any way to improve video capabilities? Because “omnia 2″ can record up to 720×480 with the same hardware..
