With the HTC Touch Pro2 (Tilt 2) available at $599 in the US, I don’t see too many people going for the Omnia Pro at $745 but if you think it’s the one for you and the price isn’t an issue, you can actually buy the B7610 in the U.S. now.
Actually, you can buy the English version of the device from many countries around the world too as Expansys are distributing it to almost all their countries now. [U.S. Link]
As a reminder, the Omnia Pro comes with the 800Mhz ARM11 CPU. The Touch Pro2 comes with a 528Mhz ARM11 CPU and given some of the Omnia Pro’s media capabilities (uPnP/dnla/DivX/AMOLED) it would be a better choice for those interested in some media playing action. Don’t forget to buy a big microSD card though as the Omnia Pro is specified as having only 1GB of storage. (Mine came with 2.5GB though)
As far as official release info goes, we’ve heard nothing yet and can only assume that Samsung marketing groups around the world have decided to wait for the Windows Phone version.

On Play.com
Omnia II i8000 is £420
Omnia Pro B7610 is £380
In India the official price announced by Samsung for Omnia II is INR 29,000 which is around £375, €420, $615;
I am assuming the prices will fall further; however the Omnia II would be costlier than Omnia Pro because of 2 reasons
1) 3.7″ inches screen instead of 3.5″
2) Bundled Memory of 8/16Gigs instead of 1Gig

when considering its features, the B7610 is one of the cheapest smartphones here in Germany.
The “old” HTC Diamond 2 costs 355€, the Touch Pro 2 around 450€ and the Touch HD 480€ while the B7610 ist available (win 6.1) for 380€.
The upcoming Xperia X2 (not available) is actuallly listed for 510€.

QVGA is 320×240. There’s no mention of 720×480 that I can see.
#11 by Harsha Sanku on November 4th, 2009

I can confirm that the rom version posted on modaco has windows 6.5, 720×480 video recording, new widgets and some improved, all new things coming from Microsoft like marketplace, speed increased rotating to landscape when sliding keyboard, transition do different desktops in samsung widgets is much faster, sms now are displayed in conversation mode… support for 15 languages:
English, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Russian, Greek, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Finnish, Danish, Polish, Swedish, Dutch.
but some minor bugs are present.
My guess is that this rom is still internal.. but it works very well.

good question. I’ve been doing that sort of stuff (white on black) on an Archos Android Tablet (with epub books mostly) and have been very happy. Haven’t tried it on N900 or Omnia Pro as I believe they both have screens that are too small. Acer Liquid might be one for you to look out for unless you want a keyboard.
