WM6.5 B7610 is now available in UK.

Omnia Pro B7610 (12) I just received notification that the Windows Phone version of the Omnia Pro / B7610 is in stock at Clove.co.uk indicating that the 6.5 version really is ready and shipping.

You’re looking at just under 367 pounds inclusive of local sales tax which makes it quite competitive.

Apparently Clove have stock now so head on over (unless you’re waiting for the Motorola Milestone of course!)

B7610 with WM6.5 Appears in France.

If I’ve got my translations correct, this article in French is reviewing the B7610…running Windows Phone OS.

Home-WM6.5

While the article doesn’t say if the WM6.5 version is available in the shops yet, it does indicate that the WM6.5 build is happening.

As SamsunMobile.nl is still advertising the free upgrade to 6.5 for the middle of November, we guess it’s happening very very soon. Hopefully it will open the gates for availability in other countries too.

Check out the article (translation) for some memory read/write tests and a battery life test.

B7610 Drops Below 400 Euro

…making it one of the best value high-end smartphones on the European market right now. 5mp, HSDPA, keyboard, AMOLED WVGA screen and an 800Mhz CPU for under 400 Euro is great value.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is hovering around the 500 Euro mark.

The Xperia X2 is showing for 509 Euro in Germany right now.

The B7610 is currently available for 398 Euros.

[Prices at Geizhals.at]

Surprisingly it’s Amazon.de that are showing the lowest price but this could be a pre-order promotion as the device is still not available through them. The WM6.5 version is expected in Holland in the next few weeks so we’re hopeful that the WM6.5 version hits Germany, UK and other European countries at the same time.

Omnia Pro B7610 is available in US….at a price.

b7610-usWith the HTC Touch Pro2 (Tilt 2) available at $599 in the US, I don’t see too many people going for the Omnia Pro at $745 but if you think it’s the one for you and the price isn’t an issue, you can actually buy the B7610 in the U.S. now.

Actually, you can buy the English version of the device from many countries around the world too as Expansys are distributing it to almost all their countries now. [U.S. Link]

As a reminder, the Omnia Pro comes with the 800Mhz ARM11 CPU. The Touch Pro2 comes with a 528Mhz ARM11 CPU and given some of the Omnia Pro’s media capabilities (uPnP/dnla/DivX/AMOLED) it would be a better choice for those interested in some media playing action. Don’t forget to buy a big microSD card though as the Omnia Pro is specified as having only 1GB of storage. (Mine came with 2.5GB though)

As far as official release info goes, we’ve heard nothing yet and can only assume that Samsung marketing groups around the world have decided to wait for the Windows Phone version.

Omnia Pro B7610 to Hit UK with WM6.5 Tomorrow? (Updated)

Reports are coming in from various places that the B7610 will be available in the UK, with Windows Mobile 6.5, very soon. At least one online retailer has listed the device as ‘in stock’ (NOT! Now listed as ‘Due November’) and one reader on the blog is commenting that Thursday could be the big day.

Pocketnow reports the B7610 with WM6.5 being ‘just around the bend’ although PocketLint is reporting a 30 November date for the B7610 on the 02 network in the UK. We’ll just have to wait 24 hours to see!

Thanks to everyone that commented in the previous article. News about Portugal and Italy there too.

Omnia Pro B7610 reaches German customers.

opatvodafone It feels like a very slow process but we can now add Germany to the list of countries that has the Omnia Pro in stock. It appears that Vodafone might have a little exclusive on the B7610 at the moment (no online stores appear to have it in stock) but it is confirmed that Vodafone Germany have been shipping the device. (see first review on Amazon.de) There’s still only 1GB internal memory shown in the specifications (mine shows 2GB) and the price is a little high  – 479 Euros. There’s one online retailer in Germany advertising a 399 Euro price which seems like an excellent deal for this phone.

So to summarize; we have Germany, Holland, Italy and Czech Republic as ‘in stock’ countries. In the UK, it appears that the availability is slipping.

If you know of availability in your area, take a second to let us know details in the comments below. Thanks.

Omnia Pro / QWERTY B7610 here tommorrow

b7610sideThanks to the responsiveness and flexibility of the nice people at Smartphoneshop.nl, I’ve secured myself an Omnia Pro (actually a Dutch Omnia Qwerty – navigating that will be fun until I can get an English ROM onto it!)  that I’ll be picking up tomorrow afternoon. The N900 is still on the list but this is a device I need to buy for my work on my mobile computing websites. It would have been silly not to buy one having put so much work into this blog and as the MID and smartphone sector are meeting in the middle now, I need to brush up on my sub 4″ screen and mobile operating system skills! Well at least that’s how i’m justifying it to myself. (How will you justify yours!)

What it means is that I’ll be knocking out a lot of detailed posts and videos over the coming weeks and paying closer attention to the MyOmniaPro forums to answer your questions. You can expect an unboxing video tomorrow, a first impressions post, a photo shoot and then, later in the week, a live hands-on session (possibly on Friday) where I go over some details on the device in a live video and chat session. You’ll be able to ask me questions about the device and i’ll run a few live tests. E.g. browsing speed and accuracy, video playback performances,  keyboard tests etc. If  i’m lucky, my partner in online video crime, JKK from JKKMobile.com will join me with his HTC Touch Pro2 and Nokia N97. It will be the perfect shootout so bring a beer and enjoy the fun. I’ll confirm the date and time for this later in the week.

Note: Next week I am in San Fransisco at the Intel Developer Forum learning about the latest MID / Phone developments from Intel. You can follow all the news from IDF over at MIDMoves.com.
